La Chicca — Florence, Sant'Ambrogio
Bistecca alla Fiorentina in Florence
Tuscan cooking in Sant'Ambrogio, one minute from the market. Pasta made in-house every day.

Our Fiorentina
The kitchen is open: you can watch the meat go from the grill to the plate, in the same restaurant where the pasta and focaccia are made in-house every day.
Two cuts: the bistecca alla fiorentina, with fillet and sirloin, and the costata, sirloin on the bone. You choose the cut and the weight, and pay by the kilo: details are in the section below.
We season it at the end, never before: salt, a drizzle of olive oil, nothing else. No lemon, no sauces.
We're in Sant'Ambrogio, which for many Florentines is still the city's last authentic neighborhood: one minute from the market, away from the routes built for tourists.

"I've been to La Chicca several times and every time I'm struck by their cooking and courtesy. Fish is their strong point. The Florentine steak is really something too."
"A jem hidden in the labirynth of streets in the center of Florence. Very cosy, with selection of local specialities. The menu is not very extensive, which is a sign that what they do propose, they do well! After some hesitation, we decided to go for the Bistecca Fiorentina and it was perfection! We wanted a salad on the side, and even if it wasn't on the menu, they made one for us. The service was impeccable, with only one waiter, but one giving special attention to each table and speaking several languages."
"Family lunch on Easter Day, and it was a lovely surprise. They welcomed us the way you welcome friends you haven't seen in a while, offering us an excellent prosecco with a really tasty little treat from the chef. I chose fish, including a raw dish of truly high quality. The tuna steak really was a steak: thick, cooked to perfection and with an excellent dressing. Since I love good food, I also tried the cuttlefish with artichokes and the fried seafood, all excellent. The wine and the dessert were perfect too. The staff truly deserve thanks for making us feel so good that we were almost sorry to leave, but we'll be back."
